Indiaâs BSF has forced 14 Indian nationals across the border into Bangladesh through the Darshana area of Chuadanga. Among them, one individual was found dead (with the attached document) within 500 yards of the border.
The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, December 26. The groupâconsisting of 6 men, 6 women, and 2 childrenâwas reportedly forced across the border near Darshana. They were later found staying around Darshana Bazar.
The individuals claim to be residents of the Satkura Dhanipur area in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, India. According to Border Guard Bangladesh sources, all are non-Bengali Muslims who identified themselves as Indian citizens with no ties to Bangladesh. And stated they have been purposely pushed in for just being Muslim.
One of those forced across stated that BSF personnel detained them around midday on Friday while they were preparing food. Their Indian citizenship documents were allegedly confiscated before they were pushed into Bangladesh later that evening. Witnesses report that one elderly individual, forced across in the middle of the night died of cardiac arrest during the push-in process.
Local sources suggested another group had been pushed toward the Kushtia border the previous day (Thursday), but that attempt failed due to resistance from the BGB. It has been learned that at least two other groups, comprising 30-35 Indian Muslims, are currently assembled near the Kushtia border area, allegedly waiting for an opportunity to be pushed into Bangladesh.
